Why Ogden?

Ogden is home to Weber State University, and is widely recognized for its quality of life as one of the best medium-sized cities in the west.

Ogden has an extensive hiking and mountain biking trail system conveniently located just up the street from the house. Outdoor recreation opportunities continue with bolted climbs in Ogden Canyon, bouldering, ice climbing, and a via ferreta for the most adventurous types. The bus system provides transportation to two local ski resorts, Snow Basin and Powder Mountain, located in the Ogden Valley. There are also two reservoirs, Pineview and Causey, for paddle boarding, fishing, swimming, and relaxation. The Ogden and Weber rivers also provide fishing and tubing opportunities.

Ogden residents are community focused. There is always something to do here! In the summer, the community gathers every Saturday morning for an artisan and farmer's market on Historic 25th Street. There is a twilight concert series that brings acts like Sylvan Esso, The Flaming Lips, and Cold War Kids from June through August. We have a Harvest Moon Festival, Zombie Prom, Bike Homecoming, and a Yeti Bash all on Historic 25th Street. Our Days' of 47 Rodeo takes place yearly at Lorin Farr Park.

Arts Festivals and Nurture the Creative Mind provide artistic enrichment to our community. There are street pianos out each year where you can hear our community members, from all walks of life, playing beautiful music as you visit one of our local restaurants or the Wiseguys Comedy Club. Nurture the Creative Mind offers free art, music, and dance classes to serve all of Ogden's youth and young adults. They collaborate with local artists for anything from public art installations to musical recording.

Local business is a staple of the Ogden community. Rooster's, Grounds for Coffee, and Slackwater Pizzeria are just some of our grass roots businesses around town that provide community and employment opportunities. Heebeegeebeez comic book store and the Gamer's Asylum offer community Dungeons and Dragons and Magic events for our gaming students. The Bicycle Collective offers an open shop for community members to learn to fix or build their own bicycles.

Ogden offers multiple gym locations, as well as the Weber State gym that is free to students. Yoga is offered at the Lotus Wellness Spot, The Front Climbing gym, and Higher Ground Hot Yoga, to name a few. The Front also offers indoor bouldering and rope courses. The Eccles Community Art Center offers yoga as well as meditation and art classes.

In short, whatever your interests, we have resources to assist the procurement of your participation in them.
